Teaching our children about illnesses and diseases and how to prevent spreading viruses is important. We want our children to understand why hand washing and covering mouths when coughing is important, but relating it in an understandable way for a child can be quite difficult. But GIANTmicrobes has created a way to not only teach our children about prevention, they've actually made it fun too.
About GIANTmicrobes:
Founded in 2002, their mission at GIANTmicrobes Inc. is to produce unique and interesting gifts for children and adults alike. Offering dozens of stuffed toys and other products, GIANTmicrobes has created a fun and easy way for everyone to learn more
about common, and not so common, health problems, viruses, and diseases. So whether you're interest is educational, medical, or just plain old entertainment, they're your number one source for all things microbial!
Review:
With it being barbecue season, I want my daughter to not only know what E. coli is, but the importance of protecting ourselves from this fast growing bacterium. So when GIANTmicrobes offered to send us an original sized microbe of choice, I knew E. coli was perfect for this time of year.
The E. coli GIANTmicrobe was cute and cuddly, but more importantly, its tag opens up to reveal informative facts about the E. coli bacterium. Being able to have all of the important facts summed up for me, made it easy to explain to my daughter exactly what E. coli is and how to prevent contamination. She was able to understand why mommy washes her hands after touching raw meat and why it is important to cook meat thoroughly before eating. We also learned when E. coli was first discovered, where else it can be found, and how quickly it multiplies! I was shocked by those numbers.
I love that my daughter was able to actually learn about the E. coli bacterium, in a fun and simple way. She loved that the plush toy looked just like the E. coli, and I really think it will help remind her of what E. coli is, everytime she plays with it.
With GIANTmicrobes creating a full line of plush toys covering a wide range of viruses and bacterium, I will be able to continue to teach my daughter about protection and prevention in a way she will want to learn and more importantly, understand.
So if you're looking to teach your child about the importance of protecting their health, I completely recommend GIANTmicrobes.

Those are quite strange, but quite cool.
ReplyDeleteNasty little critters. Making them regular size is no improvement.
